Discover 131 leathercraft tips to help you organize your workshop, price your products for profit, and craft pieces that rival luxury brands.

When I started in leathercraft, I did everything by guesswork. I priced my products by eye, and I didn't know how to find clients or how to create products that looked luxurious.

After years of learning from experienced craftsmen, spending tens of thousands of złoty on training, and making countless mistakes, I developed my own system. Thanks to it, I built Sobczuk Luxury Leather Goods — a brand whose bags sell for up to €2,300 ($2,650 USD) and are admired by clients and influencers worldwide. I have regular customers from Europe, the USA, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai.

In this e-book, I’ve gathered all the proven methods — from pricing and sales to machines, tools, and materials — so you don’t have to waste years and money figuring it out on your own.

Benefits of the eBook

Free Book Excerpt

Want to take a look inside before making a decision? I’ve prepared a free sample excerpt for you, which you can download by clicking here.

What’s inside the e-book?

How to make a frame for a doctor's bag?

In this e-book, you’ll learn a proven step-by-step method for building a durable frame for a doctor’s bag. You’ll discover which materials work best — steel, aluminum, or carbon — and how to bend a flat bar to achieve perfectly even angles. You’ll also learn how to ensure both strength and comfort. Simple yet effective tricks will help you avoid common mistakes and create a frame that will last for years.

How to Use AI in Leathercraft

I’ll show you how I used artificial intelligence to turn an ordinary, amateur photo into one that looks like it came straight from a professional studio. You’ll discover how a few simple tools can help you create high-end product photos—without costly photo sessions.

AI in Leather Product Design

Artificial intelligence today goes far beyond text and data analysis—it’s also a powerful tool for design. In this e-book, I’ll show you how a simple hand-drawn sketch of a doctor’s bag or even a photo can be turned into a professional illustration, ready to present to a client. With AI, you can quickly explore different design variations, test client reactions, and perfect your concept long before you touch the leather or pick up your tools.

How to Adjust a Bell Skiving Machine

This e-book is a practical guide to setting up a bell knife skiving machine. You’ll learn how to correctly select and adjust the blade, feed wheel, and presser foot, as well as how to use the sharpening stone properly. These techniques will help your machine run smoothly and ensure your leather edges are always even, clean, and professional—without unnecessary mistakes or material waste.

How to Identify Different Types of Leather

Not all leather is created equal. In this e-book, I explain how to tell different types apart—such as full-grain, corrected grain, nubuck, and suede—and how each affects the look, durability, and value of your product. You’ll also learn to recognize various finishes like Saffiano, natural, and embossed pebble, and understand why some leathers develop a beautiful patina over time while others remain perfectly uniform. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to choose materials more consciously and craft products that stand far above mass-produced leather goods.

Leather Stretch – The Secret to Long-Lasting Products

Just like fabric, every leather stretches more in one direction than the other. In this e-book, I explain why this matters so much during cutting. You’ll learn how to position your patterns so the bag keeps its shape, the handles don’t stretch out, and the bottom stays firm over time. It’s these subtle details that make a handcrafted product maintain its form and quality for years—outlasting anything made in mass production.

Which Sewing Machine Should You Start With?

This e-book offers a clear, practical guide to choosing your first sewing machine for leathercraft. I explain the differences between bottom, double, and triple feed, and when it’s worth considering a roller feed. You’ll find recommendations for the best beginner setup and learn when it makes sense to buy a Chinese-made machine versus an established brand. I’ve also included a checklist of what to inspect when purchasing a used model. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to choose the right machine for your needs and budget—without making costly mistakes.

Which Zipper Sliders Are Best for Premium Products—and Where to Buy Them

In this e-book, I cover the most trusted zipper brands used in luxury leather goods, explaining their differences and which sizes work best for wallets, everyday bags, and travel pieces—and why skimping on zippers is never worth it. You’ll learn when stoppers are absolutely essential and how to select the right ones, as well as why skipping them can lead to costly repairs later. I also provide clear diagrams for different configurations—closed-end, open-end, two-way, and tip—and a video tutorial showing how to finish a zipper neatly at a right angle. Finally, you’ll find direct links to recommended retailers where you can purchase all these components.

And much more!

In this e-book, I’ve gathered everything I once had to search for across dozens of sources. Inside, you’ll find links to proven products, plenty of photos and drawings illustrating techniques step by step, as well as videos and direct links to stores where you can buy the materials and tools I mention. Everything is in one place—saving you time and showing you exactly where to look.

This is real, workshop-tested knowledge: practical insights, techniques, and solutions that no search engine or artificial intelligence can replace.

About the author

My name is Karol Sobczuk, and I’ve been working with leather since 2013. I began creating leather goods professionally in 2015—over a decade of hands-on practice, countless hours in the workshop, and constant refinement of my craft.

I’ve had the privilege of working in five different leather workshops across Poland and London, where I learned directly from experienced artisans and mastered techniques you won’t find online or in books.

Over the years, I’ve collaborated with well-known Polish brands such as Kazar, Gino Rossi, and Wojas, recognized for their strong presence in the domestic market. Today, I run my own brand — Sobczuk Luxury Leather Goods—with products reaching clients across Europe, the USA, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. My work has been featured in mass media such as TVP and in the German magazine GOODLIFE, which dedicated an article to our craftsmanship.
